Veritas Prism Workshop

Design & Print.
From Idea to
Real Object.

A full-day, hands-on workshop covering professional 3D printing tools, design principles, printable mechanisms, and the frontier of generative CAD. You'll leave with a printed enclosure for your own hypothetical product.

Take HomeYour Printed Part

Most 3D printing tutorials stop at "load the STL, hit slice, hit print." This workshop starts where those leave off — teaching you to design with intention, understand the machine's real capabilities, and build parts that couldn't exist any other way.

Full Curriculum

Everything you'll learn.
In one day.

01
Module 01Foundation
Industry Tools & Ecosystem

A ground-up overview of the hardware and software stack professionals actually use. Printers, slicers, design tools, and material selection — what matters and why.

02
Module 02Design Principles
Design for 3D Printing

Learn the constraints and freedoms of additive manufacturing. Wall thickness, overhangs, tolerances, layer orientation, and supports — design decisions that determine whether your part succeeds or fails.

Module 03Mechanisms
Printable Mechanisms & Assemblies

Joints, hinges, snap-fits, living hinges, gears, and compliant mechanisms — built and printed in the workshop. Learn what moves, what flexes, and what locks.

What Only Additive Can Do

Parts with internal channels, lattice structures, interlocked assemblies that emerge from the printer whole, and geometries no mill or mold can touch. Rethink what manufacturing means.

Hands-On Project

You'll print your own enclosure.

The capstone of the day. Design and print a functional enclosure for a hypothetical product — applying tolerances, ports, mounting, and finishing decisions you've learned throughout the workshop.

1
Define your product brief
What does your hypothetical device need? Connectivity ports, button cutouts, mounting points, PCB clearance.
2
Model the enclosure in CAD
Using the design-for-print principles from earlier in the day. Guided step-by-step with feedback.
3
Slice and set up the print
Apply the slicer knowledge to your own part. Orientation decisions, support strategy, infill.
4
Print it. Take it home.
Walk out with a real physical object that came entirely from your decisions.

What You'll Walk Away With

Skills, not just slides.

Professional Tool Fluency

Know which tools matter in the industry, how they connect, and how to build an efficient workflow around them.

Design-for-Print Intuition

Understand why parts fail and how to design around every constraint additive manufacturing presents.

Mechanism Knowledge

A mental library of joints, snaps, and compliant mechanisms ready to deploy in your next project.

Additive-First Thinking

Recognise opportunities where 3D printing enables geometry and assemblies that traditional manufacturing cannot.

Generative CAD Exposure

Hands-on introduction to topology optimisation and AI-assisted form generation — one of the fastest growing skills in product design.

Your Physical Enclosure

A real printed part you designed yourself. Proof of process — and a starting point for your next iteration.

Who Should Attend

Built for builders.

Prerequisites

No experience required.

We start from the ground up. If you've touched a 3D printer or opened a CAD tool before, you're ahead of the curve — but neither is required.

Module 06

Generative CAD — the design tool that designs.

Traditional CAD asks you to specify every dimension. Generative CAD asks you to specify goals — loads, constraints, material limits — and generates the geometry that meets them.

The result: lighter parts, stronger structures, and organic shapes that no human would draw but that perform better than anything they could. This is where product design is going, and you'll get hands-on with it.
